Keeping your mind and body fit
The wellness program at Clemson Downs seeks to implement a holistic approach to health/wellness for its residents by offering classes and activities that support all aspects of a healthy lifestyle. Under the qualified direction of Ms. Nikki Robinson, Wellness Director the following programs are currently provided: Chair Yoga, The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, Neuro-bics for better brains, strength and balance class with a focus on increasing mobility and stamina. There is also a resident-led tap dance class and performances for our residents in the main dining room. Our residents also enjoy our on-site putting green, there are weekly men’s and women’s putting competitions. In 2015 our wellness program will expand to include a community garden and cooking classes featuring our resident’s favorite dishes and desserts. These classes are held in our resident-run coffee shop, Downs Grounds, located in the lower level of the Corley Center where the wellness classes are held. The Corley Center also houses several work out machines and exercise equipment, including free weights, treadmills, and recumbent bikes. Our residents also enjoy Wii bowling and other games on the Wii to improve their balance, coordination, and strength.
Our classes are always being updated to keep residents challenged. There is also weekly transportation to the Central Clemson Recreation Center for residents to take water aerobics classes and enjoy the warm water therapy pool and Olympic size cold water pool.
